In a previous life I have been a qualified nurse and lecturer of further and higher education. Due to a change in circumstances, in more recent years, I have gained a number of canine related qualifications from communication and training to breeding and whelping, fertility and microchipping. Plus others in complementary therapies specifically for animals and nutrition for dogs and cats. Even writing a children's book about a time travelling Cavalier. (That's me with my gorgeous Charlie in the photo taken by local press to launch the book)
My passion is my dogs and I give my all to our puppies to ensure they have the best possible start in life so they can grow to be the best possible family members they can be when they go to their new homes. Support is 24/7 for life. We have pups placed in the UK, Greece and Australia. We are not a show kennel but breed for health and temperament and several of our pups have gone on to be Therapy Dogs which is just the best job ever for a dog!
All our Cavaliers are health tested and certificated annually at health testing days run by the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, of which we are a long time member. These tests are for:
Mitral Valve Disease
Multifocal Retinal Dysplasia
Hereditary Cataracts
All our dogs are DNA clear for Dry Eye, Curly Coat and Episodic Falling.
Regarding CM/SM we choose not to MRI as this involves anaesthesia, a risk we are not prepared to take, however we do follow the following research along with historical health pedigrees.
See this research article: Syringomyelia: determining risk and protective factors in the conformation of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dog
Any studs we use, we also expect the same degree of health testing to have been carried out and will have their paper work available to view.
